My mother is amazing at picking clothes, even when it costs her two bucks! She just don't know it...she was shocked by my excitement but I just LoVe this 1960's designer Ruth Reed coat...it's refreshing color palette and the straight lines, its lightness making it wearable even in summer, I could go on about my mum, how she always brings me something every time she visits, I mean I never really buy clothes..or jewelry. She just has this eye and I just love her for it!

Meeting this guy moved me so much my kids keep singing his songs till today! What a soul...the way it connected to mine, I ended up singing along and it was beautiful...we just clicked...then he asked me to sing along to more of his songs and I was blown away and being me shied away with a giggle and I was out!

I dont know how but I see something new to my eyes each time I dig in my momma's 'Old' jewellery box, she does'nt even touch it anymore...

then I feel so bad when I loose many at club floors and parties because I get the feeling this little girl will be digging in my box soon!

As I look back I had no choice but to love fashion, my family would have us (me& my cousin Tshisi in her pink gown above) parade for the whole family including close neighbours each time we got new clothes. This would be a proper ceremony at which my uncle would take pictures of, and it was'nt about showing off, it was my momma's obssession with fashion. These are the days where my love for 'things' began....I had no choice and I am happy with that.

Like any mother I worry about the things my kids are learning from me as a parent. I can tell from the things my son says that these buggers depend on us in ways we still dont understand and will forever be trying to figure it out. These little people dont realise the lessons we get from them. The bottom line however is that they just want us to be, to do the things we love, the things that make us happy as parents, because they are the best heart readers I have ever met. Love is hard sometimes but these people always remind us why we should be happy. They remind me to keep building, keep studying, keep pushing my dreams because one day they will be proud of me. There is nothing more comforting.

This look has bugged me for some time, the beginning of a Man's Collection. I am currently 'suffering' with creating samples for manufacturing, which are mainly shirts and shorts. This particular one being demin.I dont know how I decided every design should be followed by a 'selfmade' sample,its daunting but good cause it improves my stitches. Enough about that, please pay attention to that mini, its the shortest hottest sluttiest and dont give a fuck skirt I have ever seen in my head, comes in red and purple leather patches! Must be paired with rebelious shoes. Cant wait to see the samples.

This collection began as a set for one of my best loved SA mags, ELLE for their New Talent Competition but I could not make the deadline due to unforeseen circumstances! *cough cough*.Now its targeting a really vintage but with an awkward twist boutique, I hope they like and if not well, they better like it! I've just started a writing system of drafting a post on paper before actualy typing it, I think I love the idea! Sometimes I get ideas for what I will start calling articles and features, and they just fly by because I move to the next thing. This would teach me something about Editing, which I have to get on point for the Magazine. I mean I know I might need to attend some class or some short course or mentorship but I just feel too loaded for that right now......so here's my unmade face instead...

The Gogo Collection forms part of the looks I showed at the Sanlam SA Fashion week last year. I have always been obssesed with looks I've seen from my childhood, from my grandmother to my mother that I think I WILL always make time for grandma dresses!

Today being Mother's day and all I thought how fitting for me to rock the shift dress from the G Collection to church...

These earings are from my mom's jewellery box that actually inspired the whole Gogo Colletion, a collection of vintage earings I cannot ever give away!

Simply comfortable and I must gloat because I had uMam Mfundisi going on about how pretty the material is,she had me blushing as I dashed out before anyone else looked, wish I had the courage to say I made it Or have that cup of tea and cookies, and tell her that I actually like making seemingly mature looking things.Now and then though!

I've spotted the perfect vintage Boutique for this collecion somewhere in Southdowns, I just have to plug up the courage to present. Store visits is a 'to do' I have been neglecting for so long. Procastination is the mother of most of my F-ups realy, something about holding on to these creations, my star sign tells me I will conquer soon so...I live on.

So I finally left a job of 2 years, the longest I have ever been employed, that's years yo! Such liberation, the freedom from the chains of employment, maybe I should be feeling otherwise seeing that employment is such a difficult thing to find in this country as per statistics, but I will still keep one foot in the job market, just to test the waters. I ain't in no hurry, this break is well deserved. I feel blessed to have the household support and the will to grind isn't affected, I am not unemployed actually, I AM an employee of the Empire I'm building, and how fulfilling would it be to create employment for someone else, wait a minute, outsourcing is job creation.

A few days ago I fell madly in love with some Afro print material and I new I had to make something for C Brands, (lets just call them C Brands for now since they're 'potential' clients. The requirements were a challenge because they kind of dig far from home and the theme is of a sport I'm personally not passionate about, but it would be such a proud moment for Poons.

Truth, I have'nt supported our music industry in a while and by a while I mean a couple of years... that is the truth and I am ashamed. We have so many genres these days I lost touch with it. Last I checked we had Hip Hop and Kwaito and the more mature stuff thats always been there but now we got AfroSoul...ect. I am totally feeling that Durban kwaito right now, then I also feel strongly about the current Hipop trends.
So, no comparison realy cause these are two different classes, and so I vow to purchase something with Big Nuz AKA Mampintsha just because I realy feel that Mlilo shit...

this here, my current read...amongst other things, is giving me so much insight for the clothing label. I gotta know my story, its never enough to just be able to have ideas, you gotta know the techniques that have been developed by others in the industry. What I did not expect the book to do is to inspire me, the author, Naoki Watanabe is a veteran of fashion design drawing who has taught for twenty years at Kuwazawa Design School, one of Japan's foremost fashion institutions.

In building the Empire I realise that research plays a pivotal part in building the foundation, therefore I strive to get a full view of this industry before and during my own attempts. The best part is that its so much fun, Im totally in my zone, got my sketchbook and pencil in my purse again. Inspiration has found me. Ok, thats Jay Z's line...but how fitting.

I am grateful to have made it through another tough year, I believe the worst things that where lined up to teach me things in my life have gone past. Turning 28 has not been easy to accept, but I am surrendering slowly to the idea of being older and almost thirty!But if you ask me, Im still 26, I'll never stop being 26....never!

Today I found myself waking up to the 'nine to five', I was hit by a devastating feeling of sadness when I drove into the CSIR Campus, what is my body still doing her?! I know my energy is out somewhere else, what am I still here for.

I am not a new year resolutions person but last year I made one, that I would be working for my Empire full time from the start of the year! I am hurt and dissapointed to a certain extent, that the label is not strong enough to sustain my position and that I still need this 'job' to support the business....one positive thing, I made a proud purchase this holiday, for the Empire, I got my first SELF PURCHASED motor vehicle:)....the biggets asset for the company so far....so as I walked into this office this morning, I told myself to keep walking....keep building....work as hard as I can in this strange industry Im in and surrender to where God has placed me for now but keep building the Empire.

I had a nice break and rest, although I did'nt travel I had fun with the family and feel blessed that we are able to be together and share life. Its not so bad. I just have to pick up with all the projects, my research on the magazine, production for the label, the 'make me over' - which has been qiute a challenge, I mean I did it all, hair, make up, spa...oh facials are awesome...yeah had my first facial at 28, Im ashamed but honestly I always thought its a waist of money, but since the holiday drinking and smoking I had to try it and wow, I'm addicted to them. So, its been all fun but there is still such a long distance to travel until I feel content with the Empire, but then to be content is an illusion, so I'll just be.

As part of the make me over bla bla, I decided to go to the dentist for a clean up, only to come back having started a fucken root ass canal...WTF!!!!!Few days I was told I'd have to come back for a root canal, it felt like this make me over shit was happening to me, like because I have thought about it, it can't be reversed. Told the dr lady about a bad dental experience I had when I was 14, and she kept the aneasthetic/morphine...whatever that shit was, flowing...shit was good., I wont be so freaked out about seeing her next, two more visits to go...I feel so brave and proud.

Next day, walked to the hair salon....I am never having someone else comb my hair ever! Pain was worse than the dentist....

it will take some time before I ever go to a hair salon, this experience is the reason why I always do my own braids and stuff....even if it takes me two to three days!

I did mee-self a favour, well not me realy but the 'make me over' victim from Limpopo, of getting some help from M.A.C, now this would be a sponsorship dream right here, I can just imagine, M.A.C being one of the brands featuring in the 'make me over' programme,web ads, mag ads............, gosh Im such a dreamer, but I think I love M.A.C because it has a sense of making any woman/men ( them niggas are wearing make up now), not hating, love gays, I mean anykind of character choices, I mean I dont discriminate, gosh you know when u saying something and you not sure what the right way of putting it would be, voila! Actualy I know some gay dude who understands make up better than me!Just sayin.

The truth is I have a big dream about the 'make me over', what freaks me out about it and the reason why I say its a dream right now is the amount of people I'd have to work with to achieve the dream. From the make up artists. photographers and so forth to the big ass sponsorships, I can just imagine the amount of adreneline I'd produce, the anxiety to see a new look on a stranger, to make someone feel good about themselves by upliftimg them for a day. Ok I ai'nt no saint or a goodie two shoes , dont get me wrong, no realy, I love things , I am a victim of wanting things. like most women are!!!!!! VICTIM

I want perfection, at times I wonder where I am going with this Empire building drama. I planned on attending the yearly whiskey festival that takes place in Joburg the past weekend but did not make it due to one of my Household bambinos falling sick. Its not frustrating to that extent because I have great help, mother in law,mom,nanny,sister in laws,oh and the paedetrician, there's enough people to consult but there is such a terrible feeling inside when a child is not well....

I managed to sneak...away to the nail spot, just to get the 'make me over' feel going,

only to return to this hot meal by hubby

For the next coming weeks, We'll be trying out the 'make me-over', a programme under construction by the Poons Clothing product line.

Some mother of two woman from Limpopo will be the first victim to this 'venture' and we hope it will be something that we do to lift people, in our workshops for instance,a price to motivate teens under certain subjects, I dont know , some good cause thingy that grows with the Empire with the aim of reaching the glossy pages of the PED magazine somewhere in daysyearsomething!

For me, having my second and LAST child was a blessing! Everyone knows birth does something to one's appearance to some extent although it was'nt realy the usual weight gain, but the 'self focus'! Nine months of wondering in baggy things and flats made me loose focus on my heels, hair and all that makes a woman feel glossy, I think!

Honestly! What the fuck is going on here! Cant things just happen on their own without one having to push and shove and apply and WAIT! I gotta rechannel my plans here....the Empire building has got to happen in this lifetime!

One thing I am glad about , is the work experience I have had since high school, thought I was bullshitting at these companies doing all these kinds of jobs, but now that I am trying to build an organisation, I realise how good those experiences were. Very important is the paperwork, although I can always consult with someone to do that part of the business, I am glad I can do it myself. So much to take care of and I have no doubt it will get there!

This blog for me is place of thruth, the story of how I run into all kinds of shit while building this Empire, I still see it,,,Im still taking a step at a time towards it. I just wish I had more power on business policies and registrations of documents...and that sort of thing in this country, coz its been quite a challenge!

head of My Household

Weird thing happened to My Household, my hubby has a car accident on the 17 of October, same date that his dad Mr Thusi, passed on after a car accident in '93. A father inlaw I never got to meet.

The universe works in miraculous ways because this horrific and bazzaar incident has taught us all a lesson. One to never fear or at least be aware of our fears and work towards overcoming them through THE LORD. To love and appreciate each other even more. A reminder that the things of this world come and go as the car was written off. That which we fear can manifest if constantly thought about and this I witnessed with my boo and somehow am glad that it has come to this end. I pray its the end of his fear of accidents, which began when his dad passed. Thank heavens for the healing.

My Household has opened up a new page and all I am greatfull for is Ntokozo's well being who came out of this with a lip crack! Thank you Jesus!

At this moment I am fuelled by some force to take part in cleaning my household, to live as clean as possible, ditch the negativity, the constant eish's and nca's...cause at the end of the day, we are blessed with Love in abundance from the universe and the Lord, ohh and I BELIEVE there's angels, watching over us.

My first ever showcased range, one of the best fun things I did this year as I've always wanted to show some looks and what better way than Fashion Week. Two weeks was a bit short but all it took was a theme and inspiration. Must say some of the original ideas I had fell along the way as pressure mounted but am proud of how it came out!

The finishing touches were sketchy...handmade labels baby....this girl makes a plan...shit was hectic...but Im getting my shit together now...a work in progress!

I am so excited, I shiver when I think about this...
Poons Empire of Designs cc might (if all goes goes well) be managing a project for a big Brand in SA, a clothing range/collection that could be used to represent the Brand, cannot disclose the brand at the moment...
I have a few ideas on specific themes I would like to present to these clients. I do however need to pull in a couple of other Designers to strengthen the implementation of this project.

This could be one of our proudest product. One of the objectives we persue at Poons Empire of Designs is to provide a platform to talented artists without demeaning and disregarding their brands, and I think it would be a great success if we was able to pull in a couple of Designers to promote their work as well...DEAR GOD...PLEASE GRANT ME THIS PROJECT, amen.

I still cannot believe my best friend is gone, Stanley 'the Poet', I wish he was still here to explain his poetry to me...I can never understand how God decided to take him from us, but I fully surrender to God's decisions in my life...just wish I understood all of these poems...Im inspired today to live my life to the max like that boy did...he would be 22 this month...Testicular Cancer...what a sending off for a young boy!
